Melissa Barbieri is one of Australia’s most well-known female footballers, making 86 appearances over 13 years for the Matildas.

Melissa represented Australia in an incredible four World Cups, one of only two Australian women to do so. She represented Australia in the Olympic Games in 2004 and had the great honour of captaining the Matildas when they won the 2010 AFC Women’s Asian Cup.

Considered a goal keeping legend, she is a Football Victoria Hall of Fame member and in the 2023-24 A-League Women's season has been with Melbourne City as a playing assistant coach. This is a record breaking 26th season as a professional footballer.
