Community Service

Michelle first joined the fire service in 1995 in Queensland, where she was one of the first female urban firefighters at the time. In her 25 years of service she has held roles in operations, training, community safety and has coordinated emergency response to large scale incidents including wildfires and cyclones.

Michelle commenced as Deputy Commissioner at Fire Rescue Victoria in 2020, a year when the Victorian community was significantly affected by bushfires.

Michelle is the international Trustee for Women in Fire. She is dedicated to attracting, promoting and developing women in the fire and emergency services industries. Michelle also has qualifications in various fields of leadership and has experience impacting both city and regional communities.
